Some computer builds begin with a list of parts, but this one began with an artificial intelligence system.

That meant an ordinary workstation was never going to be enough. Castle Ridge needed a computing infrastructure designed around the way its technology actually works. It also wanted a system that looked as distinctive as the platform it would support.
Our job was to bring those requirements together in one custom-built machine.
The Technology Behind the Build
Castle Ridge uses artificial intelligence, machine learning and self-evolving computational methods to inform its quantitative investment strategies.
Rather than relying on a fixed model that remains unchanged while markets move around it, WALLACE is designed to learn from new information and adapt to changing conditions.
The platform analyzes extensive financial datasets to identify behavioural patterns that may be difficult to detect using traditional research or static quantitative models.
According to Castle Ridge, this can include recognizing market conditions surrounding both positive and negative events. Examples could include acquisitions, changes in market sentiment or broader market pullbacks.

Supporting that kind of work requires substantial computing power.
The system must process data reliably, sustain demanding computational workloads and provide a stable environment for ongoing machine learning development. Performance matters, but so do cooling, component compatibility, expandability and long-term reliability.
That was the real challenge behind the project.
Building Around the Workload
The most important part of a professional AI computer is not choosing the most expensive components.
It is understanding the workload first.
Before the system could be built, Alpha PC worked closely with Castle Ridge to understand what the machine needed to accomplish. The consultation covered the platform’s computational requirements, expected workloads, physical design and long-term use.
From there, each part of the system could be selected as part of a complete architecture.
The hardware needed to work together under sustained load. Cooling could not be treated as an afterthought. The internal layout had to support both performance and serviceability. The finished computer also needed enough flexibility to support the continued development of WALLACE.

This workload-first process is especially important for artificial intelligence and quantitative finance.
Two systems may appear similar on paper while performing very differently in practice. GPU selection, CPU architecture, memory capacity, storage speed, PCIe resources, power delivery and thermal design can all affect how effectively a machine handles its intended work.
For Castle Ridge, the goal was not to assemble a collection of impressive specifications.
It was to build one cohesive system around WALLACE.
A Supercomputer That Looked the Part
Performance was only one side of the project.
Castle Ridge also wanted the finished system to have a clear visual presence.
WALLACE was not simply another office application running quietly in the background. It represented years of technical development and a distinct approach to investment management. The physical computer needed to reflect that significance.
Alpha PC designed the system with a custom liquid-cooling arrangement and a presentation-focused internal layout. The final result brought together high-performance computing, detailed craftsmanship and the visual character Castle Ridge had requested.
Every visible part of the build was considered carefully.
The tubing, lighting, hardware placement and overall composition were designed to create a system that felt intentional rather than excessive. It needed to attract attention while remaining a serious professional machine.
That balance became one of the most memorable parts of the project.
More Than a High-End PC
Calling WALLACE a powerful computer does not fully explain what made this build different.
The machine was created for a specific proprietary technology and a specific operating environment. Its value came from the way the entire system was planned around Castle Ridge’s work.
A conventional off-the-shelf computer may be suitable for general data analysis or occasional model development. It becomes harder to rely on that approach when workloads are highly specialized, computationally demanding or central to the organization’s competitive advantage.
In those situations, hardware decisions become business decisions.

Insufficient memory can limit the size of a dataset or model. Inadequate cooling can reduce sustained performance. Poor expansion planning can make future upgrades more difficult. The wrong balance between processors, GPUs, storage and memory can leave expensive resources underused.
A purpose-built system helps avoid those compromises.
For Castle Ridge, the computer was not purchased as a general productivity tool. It became part of the infrastructure supporting its proprietary investment platform.
The Finished WALLACE System
After an extended period of consultation, sourcing, assembly and testing, Alpha PC completed the system for Castle Ridge.
The finished build combined the computational performance required for demanding AI and financial-data workloads with the custom visual presentation the firm had envisioned.
It was also a milestone for Alpha PC.
The project demonstrated what becomes possible when a client brings deep expertise in its own field and works directly with a builder capable of translating that expertise into physical computing infrastructure.
Castle Ridge understood its models, data and investment process.
Alpha PC understood how to plan, assemble, cool and validate the machine supporting them.
The result was WALLACE: a purpose-built AI supercomputer created around the needs of a proprietary hedge fund investment platform.
Why Specialized Financial Workloads Need Specialized Hardware
Financial AI teams face many of the same infrastructure questions as research laboratories, machine learning companies and engineering organizations.
Should a workload run locally or in the cloud?
How much memory will future models require?
Which tasks benefit most from GPU acceleration?
How should sensitive data be handled?
Can the system remain stable under long periods of intensive computation?
How easily can it be upgraded as the workload develops?
There is no universal configuration that answers all of these questions.

Castle Ridge did not need a generic high-performance PC with impressive numbers on a specification sheet. It needed a machine developed around its proprietary platform, its working environment and its plans for continued growth.
